A little known but increasingly important Media Monitors role in Australia and New Zealand is the Morning Reports Writer - with the roles allocated to three teams based in Canberra, Melbourne and Wellington. These teams are responsible for compiling morning reports to over 20 of our largest corporate and government clients across both countries.
Melbourne Team Leader Caroline Potter explains: “The morning reports team is made up of a fantastic group of talented report writers. We condense large amounts of information into a manageable form so the companies can understand their media landscape for the day, respond to news stories and communicate their media coverage internally. The morning reports team write up to 2,000 summaries a day and are required to meet early morning deadlines.”
She adds: “The team are all multi-skilled report writers and broadcast monitors who produce tailored reports five days a week for clients in the Finance, Telecommunications and Automotive industries.”
The Canberra based team focuses specifically on government clients and is backed by extensive experience in all aspects of media intelligence. The team provides media reports ranging from daily updates to comprehensive reports on key topics and issues.
This team currently prepares eight daily reports for Federal Government departments and the reports distributed directly to senior executives within the respective department or agency. The Canberra writers utilise their extensive media expertise and understanding of client briefs and have become trusted advisors on daily media issues surrounding each sector.
Senior Editor, Ken Randall (pictured above) is an integral member of the Media Monitors team. Ken is a veteran of the media industry, having previously reported on Australian affairs for several leading newspapers, covering federal parliament as a broadcast journalist for 15 years and as President of the National Press Club for 20 years.
In Wellington, the NZ team ensure that by 7am each day their Aviation and Finance clients receive individual reports which typically provide a synopsis of the day's industry topics, news angles and major competitors, sorted by tier one press (nationals and major metros) then distributed internally by the clients to the respective Senior Management Teams.
The feedback from these important clients has been overwhelmingly positive and we are seeing a rise in the number of requests for this type of service from the market in general.
