EMMA ALBERICI, PRESENTER: As the Israeli offensive in Gaza enters its second week, the death toll from the conflict continues to rise with little hope of a ceasefire.

This Israeli air strike in the early hours of the morning killed six Palestinians in Khan Younis. Around 160 Palestinians have been killed while Israeli's death toll rose to 29, including two civilians.

Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel while the Israeli military responds with guided missiles and heavy artillery fire. US secretary of state John Kerry and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met in Cairo to try to broker a ceasefire and Mr Kerry says it's all down to Hamas.

JOHN KERRY, US SECRETARY OF STATE: Israel has accepted that ceasefire proposal. So only Hamas now needs to make the decision to spare innocent civilians from this violence.

EMMA ALBERICI: Israel seems intent on destroying Hamas' military infrastructure. Hamas has indicated it has no interest in a ceasefire until several demands are met, including the lifting of an Israeli blockade of Gaza.
